A new lens

Colours of the Rainbow > Encouragements > A new lens

I recently had a cataract removed from my right eye, and was due to have the left one removed when the corona virus hit and all non essential operations were cancelled. The result of that is that I can now dramatically see what effect the cataract was having.

When I look through the left eye I have the red jumper I have been wearing for the last few years but when I look through the right eye I discover that I have in fact been wearing a rather brighter pink coloured jumper. Quite amazing!! In fact everything is brighter and sharper now viewed through my right eye only, and I only now realize how dull colours had become.

I believe that the Lord is wanting in this time to give us His people some new lenses, to sharpen and brighten our spiritual vision. We know that we only see a little of our immense salvation and only see the magnificence of our God in part. As Paul states in 1 Corinthians 13 vs 12 Now we see in part, like looking through a darkened glass, but one day we’ll see clearly. We will see all spiritual realities in their full technicolor glory, but the particular lens I believe the Lord is speaking about today, and the one He is wanting to replace for us is the lens through which we view ourselves.

Many of us are like Cinderella. We know we are legitimate children of our Heavenly Father, but we have allowed the ugly sisters (our enemy the devil) to keep us as slaves in the kitchen, working hard among the pots and pans, in order to stay in the family home, feeling grubby and tired out with the effort.

We see ourselves so often in rags and somewhat unkempt, and definitely not attired for going ‘upstairs’. Well the good news is that our fairy godmother (The Holy Spirit) knows that the prince (Jesus) is waiting for us to take our place beside Him at the ball (in the heavenly realm Ephesians 2 vs 6) where a seat awaits us. The Holy Spirit says to us ‘Yes you shall go to the ball’. Then He puts on us our garments of splendor Isaiah 52 vs 1,2. His righteousness and His glory, and He tells us who we really are, that we are in fact royalty by new birth, a child of the King of Kings and that we are in the process of becoming a bride adorned for her husband, (Revelation 10 vs 8) King Jesus.

Paul prays for his fellow Christians in Ephesus that they will have a spirit of wisdom and revelation to grasp who they are now and the power that is at work within them. Ephesians 1 vs 17, 18.

Jesus offered some of the early Christians eye salve, Revelation 3 vs 18 that they might ‘see’, and I believe the Holy Spirit is today offering us all cataract surgery so that we can fully see who we now are in Christ, and who we are destined to be in the future. No corona virus can stop heavens surgery. In fact I believe the Holy Spirit is urging us to use this unprecedented time to allow Him to do this lens change.

Jesus is not coming back for a kitchen maid but for His beautiful bride who He died to save and make beautiful and glorious. Like the prince in Cinderella, it will make Him very happy if you begin to see yourself the way He now sees you too.

It’s going to be a wonderful wedding feast so let’s get ready and cloth ourselves now by faith in the wonderful garments He has bought for us at a great price and enjoy this time of betrothal.
