About Us

Hillcrest is the fulfilment of Mark and Stella’s long-held dream and desire for a place that reflects the vision God has given them.
In 1986/7 they spent a year in Christian leadership training and were subsequently involved in the leadership of an emerging church for a number of years. They have also assisted leaders and leadership teams in several other churches. They both enjoy teaching, preaching and pastoral care. In the mid-1990s they and their family lived and worked, for a period, on a church-based rehabilitation project.

Mark is a retired doctor who has worked in psychiatry and general practice as well as occupational health. Over the years he has provided a variety of counselling, psychotherapy and coaching services to individuals and business customers and churches and organisations.

Stella initially studied for a social science degree and then trained and worked as a teacher for several years specializing in helping children with learning and emotional difficulties. She then trained as a counsellor and also qualified as an MBTI user. She worked part-time as part of an NHS counselling team working alongside G.P.s in their surgeries. She also provided private counselling for over 20 years before retiring. She has provided training and supervision to a Christian charity which provided pregnancy advice and post-abortion counselling.

Together Mark and Stella have developed and delivered a variety of life skills training seminars and workshops relevant to life, relationships, faith, healing & wholeness, leadership, church life and the workplace.
Since retiring from their professional working lives, they have continued to develop their ministry by combining their professional skills and knowledge and Christian leadership experience with utilising a variety of insights and tools with which the Holy Spirit is equipping the church at this time. Partnering with the loving and powerful Holy Spirit, Stella and Mark seek to help people on their journey of spiritual and emotional healing, renewal of their thinking and beliefs, and awareness of who they are in God’s eyes. We love seeing people grow towards all that God intends them to be.
