Our journey into a life of thanksgiving must start in Psalm 100. The psalmist starts by encouraging us to shout, sing and serve the Lord with gladness, because He is good, He made us and we are His ‘flock’. Then in verse 4 we see that thanksgiving is actually the key to opening the gate into His presence. Our thanksgiving and praise bring us into His courts. Why? Because there is only praise and thanks for Jesus in heaven, (no doubt, fear or unbelief). It’s the language of heaven. It catches HIS HEART AND EAR.
It’s the way we can connect very quickly with our heavenly Father when we come to Him. We may have lots to ask Him, tell Him, even ‘pour out to Him in lament’, but our thanksgiving is a big key to the audience we want with Him.
So every day and especially when you feel distant from God, or a bit lost, as to what He is saying to you, or where He is leading, ‘give thanks to Him’, and if your mind is blank and you don’t know what to thank Him for, ask the Holy Spirit, our wonderful ‘alongside helper’ to refresh your mind and heart, of things to thank Him for and open the gate for yourself into His presence.
